Once you’ve entered the payee’s details, the Confirmation of Payee system checks for a match and notifies you of any issues or confirmations. Below, you'll find the symbols used to indicate the status of the transaction.
The symbols are explained as follows:
Match
The account details match the intended payee, and it is safe to proceed with the transaction.
No Match
The beneficiary name does not match, and there is no similarity.
The account details are incorrect.
Partial Match
The account is registered to someone with a similar, but not exactly the same, name.
You’ve indicated that you are paying a personal account, but it is actually a business account, or vice versa.
Unavailable
A technical issue has occurred, or the transaction cannot be processed. Please contact the institution or the beneficiary for further assistance.
What will be displayed?
No Match Result
This clearly indicates a "No Match" result. You are advised to double-check all the details before proceeding. You will not be able to continue with the payment unless the details are corrected.
Please contact the beneficiary to verify the information.
Partial Match Result
This suggests that the details are similar but not a guaranteed match.
You are asked to ensure that the information is correct before proceeding with the payment.
Secondary Reference Data
You may also encounter a request for secondary reference data.
This is an additional security step that some banks and Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs) use to ensure the safety of your funds. Examples include:
- A 16-digit credit card number (when paying off a credit card balance)
- A roll number (when making payments to certain building society accounts)
